DiGRA 2007 conference welcomes presentations with new and bold ideas, recent work by young scholars, and presentations that will bridge industry and academia.

We set an opportunity of the second additional submission to the people who were not in time for the application deadline.

The DiGRA 2007 conference invite submissions on any topic related to digital game research before September 12th, 2007 to DiGRA 2007 Organizing Committee.

We invite you to submit in the following presentation categories:

  1. Non- or Semi-academic papers and panels
    (including Work in Progress and Late Breaking News)
  2. Poster session
  3. Lightning Talk session

While the full paper presentations are meant to ensure high academic standard of the conference, the DiGRA 2007 conference recognize the importance of providing opportunities for presentations that might be left out from a rigorous review process.

Interested authors are requested to submit an title and abstract or a panel proposal to DiGRA2007 Organizing Committee <digra2007-cfp@digrajapan.org>.

Submission is by e-mail with PDF file, not exceed 1 page (abstract) or 3 pages (panel proposal). For details about submission in each category, see below.

Selection will be based on the abstracts or proposals through non-blind review by the committee. Presentation time will be 15-20 minutes for non- or semi-academic paper, 60 or 90 minuites for non- or semi-academic panel, 1 day for poster session, and 5-7 minutes for Lightning Talk session.

All the presentations in these categories will not be included in the DiGRA 2007 proceedings. However, it is inserted to a simple program on this day.

Participants should register the conference via DiGRA2007 online registration system. (Those who cannot register before September 12th should go to the "Onsite Registration" area at the Faculty of Science Bldg.#1 during the conference.)

1) Non- or semi-academic papers and panels

(Including Work In Progress and Late Breaking News)

This is the category to accommodate papers not entirely academic but relevant to game studies. It aims to accommodate submissions from developers or other people in game industry. DiGRA 2007 conference is committed to bridge industry and academia and sessions in this category are meant both to create opportunities for dialogues between the two communities and to provide opportunities to present very recent research results.

Abstract submission should contain at least:

  • Author name
  • Affiliation
  • Title and Abstract(150-200 words)
  • Long Abstract
  • (PDF file within 1 page)

Panel proposal should contain at least:

  • Panel chair
  • Title and Abstract(150-200 words)
  • List of confirmed panelist with their affiliation
  • expected time
  • Long Abstract
  • (PDF file less than 3 pages)

2) Poster session

Some materials are better presented by posters than talks. Those who are interested in presenting in this format should submit a short description of the poster. Posters will be exhibited at the conference and presenters will be assigned a time slot for poster sessions. The acceptance of submission will depend on the space-available basis and unaccepted abstracts will be assigned to other categories' review by the committee.

Poster submission should contain at least:

  • Author name
  • Title and Abstract
  • (PDF file in 1 page)

3) Lightning Talk session

This category is meant to provide an opportunity for conference participants to express their interests or their seminal research ideas and to expand their academic network. Submission of an abstract is optional for this category.
